Long-Time Seeding

Long-Time Seeding, a unique feature of BitComet, on one hand it helps users to get data from peers who have 100% of the torrent content and on the other hand, long-time seeding may greatly speed up your download by looking for data from mirror server. But still according to BitTorrent protocol, you need to upload while you ask for downloading. For some out-dated BT task, it's common that there is no seed, and without that, the task can not be finished. It's Long-Time Seeding that saves you from waiting for seeds forever, by asking those peers which have 100% of the torrent file(s) to upload through Long-Time Seeding.

  • Enable/Disable Long-Time Seeding

  • Upload rate limit for Long-Time Seeding: When Long-Time Seeding rate is big enough to affect your normal using of BitComet, you can limit the upload rate for long-time seeding. 【Overall upload rate limit has higher priority than the Long-Time Seeding upload rate limit】
  • Requirement for Long-Time Seeding: BitComet client must have a WAN IP. And LAN users must enable this function after Adding Port Mapping and the status light became green.
  • Choose Long-Time Seeding protocol: Options → Advanced

  bittorrent.connection.ltseed_protocol_selection\\
0 means only using TCP protocol, 1 means only using UDP protocol and 2 means using both of the protocols.

BitComet automatically searches for Long-Time seeds for a BT task that is using a torrent made by BitComet.【Only suitable for BitComet Client】

Read this for Comet Passport related Long-Time seeds information.

You can watch real-time info about the speed at which your client is uploading by LT-Seeding, in the Statistics panel of the Detailed Info Pane.
Bear in mind that when your client is uploading by LT-Seeding, that upload speed, gets added to the BitTorrent upload speed which is displayed in the Task View window. That total will be displayed in the titlebar of BitComet, as well as in the floating window or on the Statistics tab.

However when your client is downloading through LT-Seeding, that speed is added to your download speed in the Task View pane. You can watch the connected LT-Seeds and the speed at which you're downloading from them, in the Peers tab.
