Status Light

  • Image:Icon_103.PNGGray: Unknown

A gray light means your client can not reach other clients. Your client has to get data from other clients to continue the download which means you can not download anything with BitComet under this condition. This may be caused by a firewall blocking BitComet, a broken network or other unknown reason.

(Please note that BitComet checks the connection status by connecting to a certain Internet server. In certain cases - i.e. the server might be down or, more oftenly, you have an application that blocks connections to certain IP ranges which include the address of the server - this would yield a "false" gray light, since your client actually will be able to communicate with other peers and trackers but it just can't communicate with the said server in order to check the connection status. In order to clear this up, see more info here about verifying if the port mapping is successful - a successful port mapping is equivalent with a green status light.)

  • Image:Icon_109.PNGYellow: Blocked

An yellow light means your listen port is blocked, so, your client can reach other clients but other clients can not reach your client. Your can still download with BitComet in this case, but your speed won't be as high as in green light status. This may be fixed by following the Create Firewall Rules and Port mapping guides. Additionally check the Port Forwarding Guide on the forum, too.

  • Image:Icon_104.PNGGreen: WAN

A green light means your listen port is open and you have no problem in connecting to others nor do they have in connecting to you. Users can get the best download rate when BitComet has a green light.
